About Clanmaurice Medical Practices

Abbeydorney & Ballyheigue

We are a three Doctor teaching practice and work between Abbeydorney and Ballyheigue Medical Practices.

We are a training practice in the South West GP Training Scheme.

We are also involved in Post Graduate training of Medical Students from University of Limerick during their 18 week General Practice placement.

We offer a wide range of services from Diabetic, Asthma Care, Acute & Chronic Medical Care, surgical, obstetric, gynaecology, paediatric and psychological problems in adults & children.

Other Procedures

For all routine childhood vaccinations up to the age of fourteen months and routine ante-natal and appropriate to the needs of patientstal care for expectant mothers.

We also take care of Suturing, Removal of Moles and Cysts, Removal of Warts and Verrucas , Treatment of In-grown Toe Nails and much more.

Appointments
Our appointments slots are 15 minutes long. Every effort is made to adhere to appointment times.

Privacy & Confidentiality
All members of staff working in the surgery are under a legal obligation to keep the contents of patients' medical records strictly confidential.
If you need a repeat prescription, please call our reception staff to place an order of the medication you require.
At least 24 hours is needed for all repeat prescriptions, this allows the Doctor time to check the prescriptions and to ensure your records are updated accordingly.

All patients on long-term medication should be seen by a doctor at least every six months. if due to unforeseen circumstances you require a prescription and are unable to attend, explain this to our reception staff and we will try to facilitate you with a one month script and allow you to make an appointment with the doctor at your earliest convenience within the month.

if you have a prescription from the hospital which needs to be issued on a medical card, hand it in to reception and this will be transferred to your medical card.
It is the patients responsibility to phone us for their results, unless you have been told specifically to attend for a follow up visit.

Do not presume if you have not heard from the doctor that your test results are normal. To obtain your results, you must phone the practice nurse in Abbeydorney or Ballyheigue.

If the nurse is unable to take your call, they will contact you.

All blood results arrive at the practice electronically from UHK and most results are available within 5 working days. However, some take longer and your GP will advise you.

For further information such as X-rays, scans, MRI's please allow 7 working days before contacting the doctor.

Our appointments slots are 15 minutes long. Every effort is made to adhere to appointment times. All members of staff working in the surgery are under a legal obligation to keep the contents of patients’ medical records strictly confidential.
The GMS card entitles the patient to avail of a whole range of medical services free of charge from their family doctor.

This includes standard consultations for treatment of illnesses and related services for the treatment of a wide range of conditions. The doctor receives payment from the PCRS for these services.

Full medical card patients and patients with doctor visit cards only are entitled to do the same.
